In 1968 Herman Harper made a decision that affected not just his own family but much of Gospel music as well. Tired of living half the time on the road singing bass with the Oak Ridge Boys, Herman took a position with Don Light Talent, booking the Oaks and a handful of others. In a short time Herman became a leader in the still-new field of Gospel talent agents and worked to build his agency and the industry for 25 years until his death in December of 1993.

Over the years, Herman Harper, along with his sons -- Ed and Jeff, have taken an active role in marketing gospel music to major concert halls, festival and corporate events, churches and state fairs across the country, garnering network television exposure, and have been very instrumental in the development of Christian music events at major theme parks such as Opryland, Six Flags Over Georgia, Silver Dollar City and Dollywood.
The Harper Agency is considered by industry leaders as one of the leading booking agencies in its field. The agency has led the way in exposing Gospel music to some of the largest churches in America and they have been very successful in scheduling their artists on many of the largest church concert series in the nation today. The Harper Agency's desire is to serve the individual needs of its artists as well as promoters and churches...whether it be an annual concert, church event, homecoming celebration, fair or just about any other event imaginable.
In January of 1982 Herman Harper welcomed his oldest son, Ed Harper, to the Gospel division of Don Light Talent Inc.
The Harper Agency has assisted its artists in performing at some of the most prestigious events and venues in the nation -- Radio City Music Hall, The Kennedy Center, The Nashville Network's Prime Time Country, Crook and Chase and The Statler Brothers Show, NBC's Today Show, Billy Graham Crusades, Christian Booksellers Association Convention, National Religious Broadcasters Convention, National Quartet Convention , Christian Artists Retreat at Estes Park, Bill Gaither's Homecoming Concert Series and the Dove Awards.
